Eye-Hand Coordination

Eye hand coordination embodies the concept that  visual perception (the way in which we interpret  visual images)  can have a profound effect upon  the way we learn and move.

Visual perception represents several skill sets that impact learning.  One major skill set is visual discrimination, the ability to perceive an image in terms of its form, shape, color and size is a key aspect of eye hand coordination.

Another skill set of visual perception that impacts learning is visual motor integration, the ability to use movement in  response to visual input. These moves allow for daily living skills such as pulling up socks, manipulating media such as clay, Play Doh or even science project materials in the classroom.

As these major skill sets mature, abilities to use both hands to manipulate objects in response to visual input becomes more sophisticated.  One hand begins to be able to hold an object still while the other hand begins to be able to manipulate associated objects independently.
