Our daily routines have been significantly changed as we contend with the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus and the need for social distancing to slow the progression of the virus. As adults we understand both the safety issues and the need to adapt to this “new normal”. Children, especially those with sensory issues, have difficulty adapting and may need some special assistance in the days to come.
In order to assist with this new challenge, as well as continue the progress that clients make towards therapeutic goals, I would like to offer the option of Occupational Therapy via telemedicine sessions. We have been seeing great progress with a number of long-distance clients using this option and it seems that the time is right to offer these services locally as well.
Over the last 30 or so years, I have provided Occupational Therapy services to children in a variety of settings. I am fortunate to have been able to share tried and true techniques that have worked for my clients through books, journal articles and workshops for both parents and therapists. These virtual sessions use materials that have been developed out of these experiences and follow a format that I have been able to validate over time.
I’ve included some FAQs on the next page. I invite you to call with any questions and I look forward to working with your family to continue your child’s progress and address new needs that may come up during this challenging time.
