What do I need to begin my child's treatment?

In New York State, Occupational Therapy can only be provided with a prescription from a medical doctor. This is usually done on a prescription pad where the doctor provides the patient information along with a medical diagnosis

Will insurance cover treatment?

  • When coverage for Occupational Therapy treatment is included in your specific insurance plan
  • When the diagnosis listed is covered by your specific insurance plan
  • Sometimes, only a certain number of treatments is covered during a specific time frame (i.e. a calendar year)

Are you a participating provider with my insurance company?

Dove Rehabilitation Services is a participating provider with the following insurance companies under specific plans:

  • United Health Care
  • Empire
  • Oxford

How do you determine what treatment my child needs?

Before we would be able to provide treatment for your child, we would need specific medical and developmental information in order to establish a plan for treatment. Generally, our intake procedures require either an initial consultation or a full evaluation to determine which areas of concern need to be addressed, and how best to meet these needs.

Alternately, if your child already has a current occupational therapy evaluation report complete with test results and goals, then we would be able to provide treatment without further testing
